Was this reply helpful? Yes No. I usually remove their Outlook profile and create it again which usually fixes it but sometimes I remove their windows profile and create it again. Hopefully this reg edit will work better. I have had that happen multiple times in the last week or so. Even though the window was blank, I just typed in my email address and hit Enter, and it came up with the password prompt window.
I entered my password and was on my way! This issue has been around for several months, and MS has updated this article frequently to adapt to new findings of the symptoms and their solutions. I've experienced a few of these and this article has helped us in the past. I think they've mostly patched out this bugs, so as others have said, make sure your client software is up to date.
Cheers and good luck! I commented above that I had a user on the phone with the same issue. Clearing the O credentials resolved it. When we moved to modern authentication we had loads of odd prompting. Eventually after clearing stale creds in Credential Manager the issue went away.
I've had similar issues, but removing Microsoft office desktop apps sorted this dunno if its worth a shot or i just got lucky. We also have had a similar issue with Outlook though only on a couple of our Windows 8. After Christmas break the user is asked to log in with their email address but after doing so, the popup screen that should be asking for password, comes up blank. We found that logging the user out of the affected product which removes their Office account from all of the Office desktop products then adding their account back into Office, recreated their account in all of the Office products and the user was then able to successfully log into Outlook.
We're having a very similar issue "globally" for the last week or so. Basically what we get is one of two things:. In both cases Outlook shows "Need Password" at the bottom. If we click the "need password" item, when the popup is closed, it simply re-authenticates and without needing to type the password and we're good Sign up using Email and Password.
